What does this quote mean?

It is not your intelligence or power that makes a successful life for you. It is your internal wiring or mindset that causes you to work hard, live bravely, and do your best each day. It is your sense of ethics and moral foundation that defines your character, and good, strong character used to be all that was needed to defeat evil or bad businessmen in our (Roosevelt's) world.
