Standing alone without holding on at nearly 9 months?

So my daughter has been cruising furniture since about 6 1/2 months and is now an expert at nearly 9 months. She is now being a daredevil and while she is standing she stops holding on and stands alone for some time....in your experience as parents of babies how long til they might try to take their first steps...is there any corrolation between standing alone (without holding on) and starting to walk?
