Depends on what you want to do, as far as PvP or PvE. If PvP is what you are looking for, a Pally is much easier than a Mage to play, skill-wise. As I'm sure an argument will break out about that comment, I should say I have played both, and a Pally is both more versatile and much better suited PvP wise. As far as PvE goes, once again, can't go wrong with a pally (at least until Cataclysm). Before Cata, Pally rotation was basically, press the prettiest on that isn't on cooldown. A Mage's rotation is only 3-4 ons as arcane spec, so not that difficult either. But I would say to roll a Pally. Mages can only be DPS cles, and get boring rather quick. With a Pally, if you get bored of DPS, just heal. If you get bored of healing, just tank. Much better choice in the long run.
